Your Newsroom 101 Name

Why we ask for it:

We are conducting a study of these exercises. To do that, we need all your exercises to be filed under the same name.

What makes a good name:

  • Feel free to invent a name to use for these exercises. You do not have to give your real name.
  • Use a name you can remember each time you return to this site.
  • Don't give us any private information, such as your Social Security number.
  • Make your name unique -- one no one else is likely to think up.

Protect your privacy:

  • We will not share this information with anyone, but it will be stored temporarily on a data file on the internet, so the name you use might be seen by others.
  • We don't need to know who you are. We just need to separate your exercises from the exercises completed by other visitors to the site.

Entering your name:

  • Enter your name exactly the same way each time.
  • A computer will sort the data from your exercises.
    • The computer is picky -- and dumb:
    • If you use capital letters one time and not the next, the computer will consider you two different people.
    • If you use a space one time, and don't use it the next time, the computer will consider you two different people.
    • So please be consistent.
  • Use your Newsroom 101 name when you fill out the survey -- after you have completed at least 20 sets of the exercises.

Thanks so much! Your cooperation will help us improve these exercises.
