Subject-Verb Agreement:
Identify the Core Sentence

In order to check for subject-verb agreement, it is important to isolate the subject and verb of a sentence. By doing this, you remove other words that do not affect the verb, allowing you to focus only on the subject and the verb.

Then you can more easily find out if the correct form of the verb has been used.

In each of the following exercises, choose the answer that best depicts the subject and verb that make up the "core sentence."
